A Marketing Tip: The 3/11 Rule The 3/11 rule is an old (but true) marketing adage that all dentists and their team should be aware of. If a person has a good experience somewhere, they tend to tell 3 people on average about it. If they have a poor or negative experience, they will tell an average of 11 people about it. If you have exceptional quality service, excellent clinical skills and a friendly atmosphere, you can be sure that a patient will tell other people about you and your practice - hopefully 3 or more of them! However, if a patient comes to your practice and you perform bad dentistry, your business assistant is rude to them or the office atmosphere is tense, then that patient will spread the word about the negative experience in your dental office.
